UConn Health and ConnectiCare Have Reached an Agreement

Quality of Care

Our exceptional nurses strive to provide the highest quality of care to every patient, every day. Our nurses take pride in their work, caring for patients as they would care for members of their own families. And because our nurses have numerous educational opportunities both here in Farmington and on the Storrs campus, our nurses continue to learn as medicine evolves and many earn advanced degrees.

Mission, Vision & Values

Our mission, vision, and values influence what we do and how we do it. We strive to bring the very best in nursing care to every patient, every day.

  • Mission: Caring practice to promote hope, healing, and the highest level of safety and wellness for our patients and community
  • Vision: Lead exceptional patient-centered and family-centered care through collaboration, compassion, innovation, and evidence-based practice
  • Values: Accountability; Compassion; Diversity; Excellence; Integrity; Professionalism; Respect; Collaborative Communication

The UConn Advantage

At UConn Health, we are fortunate to have a close relationship with our School of Nursing located in Storrs. Nearly 100 master’s-prepared RNs who work at UConn Health have clinical faculty appointments at our school. We also have many staff members with dual responsibilities of teaching in the school and providing clinical care at the numerous UConn Health locations.

Magnet Status

UConn John Dempsey Hospital has taken the first steps towards Magnet hospital designation from the American Nursing Credentialing Center. Magnet hospitals demonstrate a commitment to high-quality care and health care innovation.

Safe Patient Handling & Mobility Committee

We recognize that injuries from overexertion are common in nursing, and we have created a Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Committee in response. The committee is responsible for monitoring the rates of injuries from patient handling and finding ways to minimize these incidents for the well-being of our staff and our patients.
